What defines a hero? There are many definitions of a hero, but the one I’ll be going with is that a hero is valiant, just, and noble. Being a hero is something based on opinions, but that seems to be the most common one. So, is Odysseus a hero? The man from the Odyssey shows these characteristics throughout the entire story. To begin with, during the recruitment for the Trojan War, Odysseus tries to escape being recruited. Many would argue that this is not heroic, but going by the definition we defined before, I would argue that it is. As such, this would likely be an example of being noble, retaining the principle of raising the family he built. Instead of willingly leaving his wife and son at home, he tries to escape the war and stay at home
