The acts of the renowned coach, John Wooden, are records that are still held to this day. John Wooden, a famous UCLA coach, was the first person to be put into the Basketball Hall of Fame. As both a player and an athlete, no other person was able to collect as many titles as himself. Wooden’s abilities to control his team effortlessly on the court are known by many as great leadership skills. By working overtime to train his teams, using a positive mindset, and using his leadership qualities, they developed a new way of playing. Over time, John Wooden had also learned it was better to take away pressure rather than instate more. He often kept his players present in the game with almost no worries by keeping the “pregame locker room speeches short, to the point, and mundane,” and by maintaining a positive mindset (Davis paragraph one). He used a method by imitating teaching a class, to the point where games were interpreted as finals. Games were not only an exam, they were a reflection of his coaching and training of the players. Wooden’s main goal was to avoid pressure and play as smoothly as possible, which he fulfilled after countless years of experience. In the end, John Wooden's devotion to his teams, training skills, and ability to control what skills each player possessed came together to make a great team which reflected on his coaching skills. The qualities of a good leader are key to achieving what you aspire to do. Some of these qualities include things such as a growth mindset, authority, and inspiration. One of the most influential leaders today is Michelle Obama, who worked throughout her eight years as a first lady to revamp what the children of America were
