The right to speak freely and be able to express themselves through many forms. However, there should be a line to where people have crossed and there should be some kind of justice served. I think the book “Hit Man” violates our First Amendment rights, the story talks about how to murder someone. With this kind of book and with the society that we are in, a book like this should never be published, not knowing what someone else is going to do with the information. Even if the author didn’t tell the readers that they should use the “advice” or follow through with action, it’s still not protected. In 1969, a leader of the Klu Klux Klan attended a rally, and this rally didn’t go as planned. There were 6 hooded figures, some of them had weapons such as a rifle, pistol, shotgun, ammunition, and a bible, the leader was empty handed talking about the African Americans along with the Jewish. …show more content…
The appellant argued that they were advocating violence, and that they didn’t go through with the lawless actions. The court ended up ruling against the Klu Klux Klan and charged them with first count of indictment and said “unlawful by word from mouth, property of crimes, violence, and unlawful method of terrorism.” The second count was charged with “unlawfully assembling a group, or assemblage of persons to advocate the doctrines of criminal syndicalism.” In another case the Weir V. U.S. the 3 fishermen were seized off their boat by the Coast Guard, and to get all 3 of the fishermen back to shore it took them a month. On the month trip back to shore, the boat went through Guantanamo Bay, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Miami, where men were stripped naked and given paper thin clothes to wear. The men were also tied up on the boat and were denied shelter, food, and basic human
