How Physical Therapy Improved My Life When I began my physical therapy treatment, I remember feeling nervous. I knew that physical therapy would be a painful process, and require a lot of me. Dealing with day-to-day back pain and shoulder pain, and trouble sleeping, I was more than ready to recover. When I met with the team of physical therapists and their assistants, we all talked as if we knew each other for years. I previously attended another physical therapy practice, and they had poor professionalism that made me feel as if they didn't care. But with my new physical therapist, I felt welcomed, and I knew that they had my best interest in mind, and that helped me change my health around.
My physical therapist team would meet with me to set goals for me to reach by the next week, and helped me form a nutritious meal plan. The goals were based around simple exercises such as jumping jacks, wall push-ups, and …show more content…
I went from 230lbs. to 180lb., my back pain was gone, my shoulder pain was gone, and I was having a full night rest. Even though it was my last month, they still motivated me and spoke positive words. I remember when they ask me, “what my next goals were for myself before the end of the month”? I told them I signed up to run a 5k, which was the next weekend. They start to clap with big smiles on their faces; the feeling of joy ran through me. And to my surprise, a couple of the physical therapists and assistants attendant, and even another team member signed up to run. To see them go out of their way to support me, really touched me because they made time for me on their day off, they could have spent the day resting or with family.
