In Peg Kehret’s article, “I’m not my brother; I’m me”, he highlights the pressure put on younger siblings, to live up to their older sibling’s standards, when others characterize them based of their experiences with their older siblings. In the article the narrator points out “People expect me to be like my brother whether I am or not.” I support the author’s view that one should not be judged from the characteristics of the people they are related to.
As a middle child, with a brother who is one year older than me, I can relate to the injustice that younger siblings experience in school. Throughout my years in school my expectations have always been influenced by the successes and failures of my older brother, Brook.
