The coaches had written the wrong time for one of our fastest swimmers. She was now swimming in the lane next to me. Even though I was worried I kept it together by telling myself that I needed to keep up with her. I wasn’t concentrating when the race started and before I knew it, it was time to get in the water. My start was great and I did not let myself slow down. Out of the corner of my eye I could see my teammate just a little bit ahead of me. Pushing myself harder I kept her in my sights. When I came to my second flip-turn I started to flip my body too early and my feet did not touch the wall. My legs did not give up. To make up for the mistake at the wall I started to push myself even harder. At this point I wasn’t focused on beating the people next to me. I pushed my legs harder not letting myself slow down. When I touched the wall with a perfect finish I popped my head up to check my time. I had just beaten my best time by two seconds. My teammate in the other lane hugged me screaming you did it. After the race everyone kept congratulating me on such an amazing race. This showed me that even though I had a hard time keeping a positive mental attitude and working hard is what kept me staying successful and helped me to achieve my
