I rated myself to be reasonably skilled when it comes to the core ability of identifying, perceiving and expressing emotions in myself and as well as others. This tends to stand out in me personally, academically and professionally. Throughout all the aspects in my life I use these skills on a daily basis. I have always been in a sales career and I learned a longtime ago that by reading people and actually listening to their words and body language will not only help them find what they are looking for but it will in-turn help me accomplish my goals. There is still, however, room for growth especially when it comes to my academics. I strive to preform at the highest level, however, my schedule tends to get in the way. No matter what I do to make more time for school, it just does not seem to happen. It is not for a lack of importance, it is just time. So emotional intelligence in this area of academics I have yet to achieve. Being a full time single, working mother takes a straining toll on me daily. Overall, my skills in this area of emotional intelligence aid in my process of reading others, understanding how they feel, and effectively identifying my own emotions. These skills form the basis of my ability to relate to the emotions of others as well as well as your ability to understanding myself.
