Thoreau’s purpose in Walden was to convince others that their lives had become meaningless. The author invites the readers to question essentials and live deliberately to find the true meaning of life. The author went into the wild to live deliberately and separate himself from society, so he was in control of his own life. Thoreau uses his own life choices as an example to show how to live your life. He highlights how every person has a mastery, whether it be their creditor or their profession.
