2.1.2. Differences between stress, crisis, and trauma
A. Stress:
"A condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize". (AIS 2010)
What are core elements of stress?
• Situation occurs and disrupts the usual stream of life and creates a state where the “normal” way of doing things does not work or is insufficient.
• The situation is overtaxing because it demands resources that exceed those available for addressing it.
• Is whether the disparity is appraised by the exposed individual or system as strenuous, emotionally disruptive, endangering their well-being, and creating tension or as an opportunity for change and development? (Berger, 2015) (6p)

Distress:
"Is a combination of negative feelings of being easily annoyed or irritated, emotional pain, sadness, anxiety and fearfulness, and having uncontrollable temper outburst as a result of a subjective sense that something is wrong, whether or not that feeling is associated with actual impairment in any area of functioning." (Berger, 2015) (7p)
The person has weak ability to adapt and feel sad. Maybe it was after losing the job. How the people respond to this situation? In the same case you see that some people may not find much difficulty in dealing with these events, they may lead to uncomfortable feelings and which make it impossible to cope and continue their daily activities and have difficulty coping to the situation, and we are experiencing psychological distress.
