In Beowulf he is summoned by Hrothgar to save his people from the descendants of Cain. Beowulf in his old age also goes off to slay a dragon, but dies from the serpent’s flame full bite. In The 13th Warrior the character Buliwyf was asked to defeat a ancient group of Wendols. The Wendols can be considered a race of evil. Evil, as in the race of Cain. Buliwyf defeats the mother without a weapon. In the movie the 13th warrior Buliwyf the main protagonist was supposed to defeat a fire breathing dragon like Beowulf did but instead the dragon is replaced by a hoard of Wendols that attack them. Hrothgar's summoning for help does not change, but the fights and the end results do. Beowulf and Buliwyf, the heroes flourished when they defeated the ancient race that attempted to come back from its hidden nature.
All in all the 13th Warrior and Beowulf are great stories and have many things in common. And they have some differences like how Buliwyf dies at a much younger age then Beowulf dose. Beowulf also does not use any weapons and does not take anyone with him we he goes it to the lake of fire. The main similarity is how they pass on their stories they would make songs about the hero, sing about them in mead Halls all around the world and then write about him
