“The Great Oklahoma Land Rush of 1893” In 1893 many men and women alike rushed to Oklahoma in search of new land. The only problem with such a huge mass of people migrating all at one time to the same place was there was only 42,000 parcels of land available in this specific territory. During this time in American history, there was an economic depression going on that was worse than ever before. Many people were out of work or were struggling to make ends meet from month to month. A lot of families started to fall apart and when this grand, once in a lifetime opportunity occurred, everyone reached out to take it.
