James Polk, Zachary Taylor, and Millard Fillmore all served as presidents. This flag would only last for three years until they came up with the 31st-star flag. The cause for this star was because California was being added to the United States on July 4, 1851. Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan were presidents while this flag represented the nation. This flag would then last seven years of being official until they made the 32nd-star flag. The creation for this flag was because Minnesota was joining the United States. Congress made it the official flag on July 4, 1858.
