Tammy Ko, the would-be forensic investigator is an atypical example for most people and students. The fantasy created by film, television, and literature often outweigh the reality and facts regarding a certain career path. Write a list of the terms and definitions. Focus on what you are struggling with, not just what you are good at.
I often write out my notes from lectures by hand, at home, if not in class. I also use OneNote to keep a digital log of my notes to study when I am on my computer or iPad. Scheduling my days out is the only way I would manage to study, have a social life, take care of my kids, and meet work goals for clients. Taking a few extra steps can help you in the long run, no matter what.
If you aren’t sure if your academic path or career choice are right for you, don’t be afraid to do some research and reassess your plans.
There are a few techniques that I already practiced mentioned in the chapter following the Tammy Ko’s case study. The toughest one that I, like many others, have a hard time dealing with is feedback. Again, it goes back to what you envision may not always be accurate. Feedback allows us to grow, improve, and move forward.
