I found the article by Bart Kowallis discussing the natural events that occurred in 3 Nephi to be rooted in his scientific background and confirm the story that was told in 3 Nephi. I chose this article because I thought it would answer skepticism about the truth of this story in the Book of Mormon. Religion and science are often thought of as opposing points of view, but this article actually joins the two together. In this article it talks about modern scientists who seek to make a scientific connection to the events described in 3 Nephi. Before modern science, history relied on the stories told by those who lived during those times and whatever method they used to document events. The natives in New Guinea recount a period of darkness.
