More people are going to be able to see the baby in a 3D image than in a 2D image unless it is a profile image. 3D ultrasound, allows them to better visualize the baby, and has the benefit of bonding to their expected newborn and strengthening the support system with their family. Advancements in 3-D and 14th imaging now had image quality that show great detail of gender facial features and hair. Many mothers want to know what their baby is going to look like when she delivers; she wants to know if your babies going to have hair, or if her child is going to have chubby cheeks. When women know that we have the capability to obtain images that can show those features for them they are going to want them, and they expect you to get them, or they will go somewhere else to get them, whether it be another medical facility or nonmedical …show more content…
They State fetal ultrasound should be performed by appropriately trained and credential medical professionals with specific training in fetal ultrasound and that all studies should be properly documented in the patient’s medical record. Some doctors believe the mixture of having a trained professional who can provide medical diagnoses while having a portion for entertainment purposes would be beneficial for both the mother and the baby. As technology advances Studies must continue to determine the possible long-term effects of prenatal ultrasound.
The woman who cannot experience enough visual confirmation of her baby at her doctors office will likely go somewhere else to satisfy her needs so sonographers must find a solution that meets the demand of the mother but also ensures the practices of the ALARA principals.
