Every year, the Independence of America is celebrated throughout the United States. This was the very day when the 13 original colonies declared independence from Great Britain. It started in 1776 when Congress passed the Declaration of Independence, officially announcing their intent to become independent. The colonies were angry about high taxes and a lack of representation in the British Government. So they stood for themselves, successfully claiming their independence in the year 1783. It was finally adopted on the 4th afternoon of July, 1776. Thomas Jefferson was declared the principal author of the historical document due to his skills and strong opinions about liberty. On the other hand, the U.S. Constitution was written in the year 1787, after the Declaration of Independence.
