Question: Question 5
Answer: How do you adapt communication with children and young people for the age of the child or young person?
You have to speak in a way the child or student understands. Children and young people communicate in very different ways. A child of 5 will not understand the same things as a young person of 13 does. For the child you have to speak clearly in language they understand but for the 13 year old you donâ€TMt want to patronise them or speak subjects too grown up for them.
How do you adapt communications with children and young people for the context of the communication?
The context is very important in communication. Every situation requires different communication.
When you communicate face to face the situation is very different from communication on paper.
Also how you would communicate with a child on the playground is different from when you communicate in the classroom.
