The 1980’s: An era of new beginnings, and a new and profound love for fashion. With the youthful influx of ideas and an invited acceptance for modern fashion, the 80’s brought a new lifestyle to everyone. Encouraged by the western economic boom, as well as the musical influences, fashion soared. “Big sneakers, elaborate haircuts and impossibly skinny jeans had been straddling the line between high fashion and kitsch for a number of years”(Keller1).Women dressed in a more enthusiastic and adventurous manner, leaving the boring and bland colors of the 70’s behind. Wearing tight clothes quickly became a trend so women could show their features. Unlike in the past when women were shamed for wearing provocative clothes, showing more skin, clothed in racy attire, was accepted. Times have changed, and women began to slowly be looked at as equals, however they still faced some of the same adversities that were present in the past.
