In New York City on September 11th, 2001, not only were the two colossal Twin Towers, of the World Trade Center completely demolished, but the debris from them also caused one of the surrounding buildings to collapse (Source A). Also, fire departments from all over the nation swiftly arrived to provide aid to the New York Police and Fire departments in the aftermath of the catastrophic attacks. In Washington D.C, American Airlines Flight 77 had also been hijacked and crashed into the United States Military’s headquarters, more famously known as the Pentagon (Source A). The first responders to the attack were defence officers, and other military executives, who had entered the scene to deliver assistance (Source A). After the attacks had occurred, the United States government passed the Patriot Act as well as administering the Department of Homeland Security to strengthen security checkpoints nationwide. Shortly after, the United States military executed the “War On Terror” as a counter-terrorism operation, deploying troops all over the world, particularly in Afghanistan (Source A).
