How 9/11 (September 11, 2001) Changed The World People today seem to have forgotten the devastating day of September 11, 2001. As someone said "It's been a long, hard road since 9/11, but, as one nation, we will continue to prevail." On this day the United States of America lost thousands of innocent lives due to Al Queda's mission to take out the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This tragic event not only caused physical and mental damage but it also had effects on health and economy. At 8:25, American Airlines Flight 11, a Boeing 767-223 ER, was the first plane to be hijacked by Mohamed Atta, Adnan Buckhari, Ameer Buckhari, Abdul Buckhari, and Amer Kamfar. Flight 11 was carrying 81 passengers (including the hi-jackers), 9 flight attendants, and 2 pilots. At 8:46, the flight crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center, causing the fuel cell to erupt into 1500-2000 degree flames resulting in the weakened steel structure, which in turn caused the North Tower to collapse. A few minutes later at 9:03, United Airlines Flight 175, a Boeing 767-222, hi-jacked by Marwan Al-Shehhi, Fayez Rashid Amed, Ahmed Alghamdi, Hamaz Alghamdi & Mohand Alshehrik, crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center carrying 51 passengers (not including the 5 hi-jackers), 7 flight attendants, and 2 pilots. A fire burned for 56 minutes inside the south tower, collapsing the top floors onto the 90 lower floors. It only took 8 seconds for both towers to completely crumble. Within 30 minutes of the planes hitting the World Trade Center, hi-jackers Khalid Almindhar, Majed Moqed, Salem Alhazmi, Nawaf Alhazmi and Hani Hanjour crashed American Airlines Flight 77, a Boeing 757-223, into the western side of the Pentagon causing it to explode on impact. The flight was carrying 53 passengers (not including hi-jackers), 4 flight attendants, and 2 pilots. Later that morning at approximately 10:00, United Airlines Flight 93, a Boeing 767-222, crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Officials categorized this flight as part of the September 11 attacks. The flight was hi-jacked by Saeed Alghamdi, Ahmed Ibrahim A Al Haznawi, Ahmed Alznanmi and Ziad Samir Jarrah. Also on board were 33 passengers, 5 flight attendants, and 2 pilots. First emergency response teams were on the scene at the World Trade
