In the novel Thirteen Reasons Why, Clay Jensen is secretive, scared, and caring. First, Clay is secretive. When Clay receives the tapes about Hannah's suicide, his mom walks in on him and asks what he is listening to. He lies and says that he is just listening to the tapes for a school project.
