In the myth Gaius Mucius Scaevola and Cloelia, Porsena, the king of the Etruscans, places a blockade on the city of Rome. During the time Rome was a slave to the Etruscans they had never been blockaded, but now that they were free from the Etruscans they were getting besieged by them. C. Mucius, a young noble, was disgraced by this and wanted to attack the Etruscan's camp. He went to talk to the senate, and they approved that he could swim the Tiber and do a lot of damage to the enemy's camp. C. Mucius kills the secretary instead of the king and gets caught.
