The main character, Mike Arroyo, moved from Puerto Rico to New York City to play baseball. Everything was all fun and games until if he ever got found out that he and his brother were in foster care and cannot play baseball anymore… Michael moves from Puerto Rico to New York because his father died and they were forced to escape Cuba. Michael plays for an ALL-STAR team for New York and gets found out by other coaches that he should not be in the USA. Michael and his 17 year old brother get adopted by a family in new york and takes his team to the LLWS and gets to pursue his baseball dream.
The theme of the book was shown during a conversation between Manny and Michael.

Ramon grew up without his parents like Manny and had a passion for baseball but never had a chance to show his talent.“As far as Ramon could tell at this point in life, the only job skill he had. Was that he was fast.” Just like Michael, Ramen had no adult influence because his parents were also gone. The author, Mike Lupica was explaining how Ramon’s only talent was being fast and being a great soccer player when he was younger but was hanging out with the wrong people and made him a different person.“He had been a great baseball player in his neighborhood in his early teens”. I recommend this book to anyone who loves baseball because Mike Lupica shows how Many came from nothing to being one of the best baseball players in the country. This shows how if you believe in yourself and work through everything in life, you will be successful. “Michael had anyone other than his brother to support him through his baseball career” Mike had to keep his secret from everyone and try to pursue his dream to play baseball in Yankee stadium. I rate this book a 10 because it motivates me to try harder in baseball and in everything else because there is someone that always believes in you and supports you through anything.
