Sammy is checking out Queenie and her friends at the register until the store manager, Mr. Lengel approaches the register. Mr. Lengel notices that the three girls are wearing bathing suits which are provocative and against the store policy. He confronts Queenie and her friends informing them of the clothing policy in the store. Mr.Lengel knows Sammy is annoyed that Mr. Lengel was being so strict on the girls and he knows Mr. Lengel is making them feel bad for what they are wearing, Sammy continues with their checkout and finishes the transaction. This is where the conflict of Man v. Self occurs. Sammy has a choice to voice his view on the situation right in front of him. He can be quiet and let Mr. Lengel speak to Queenie and ruin his chance with her, or defend her and do something heroic to impress her. As Sammy sees Queenie exiting the store, he makes the decision to turn around to tell Mr.Lengel that he is quitting. Mr. Lengel informs him that he will be making a big mistake leaving the family business by quitting. Sammy says he does not care and hoping this action will grab Queenie’s attention. He storms out the store hoping Queenie witnesses the commotion. When he leaves the store, there is no sign of Queenie anywhere and begins to contemplate what he is going to do after quitting the family
