The stereotypical roles for women in the 1800 and in the Story “A Pair of Silk Stockings” by Kate Chopin, women are always to be working in their homes and work for their kids and family. They are not to have any other jobs as the father the main provider for the house hold gets money for the family to survive on. Women usually would by grocery’s, cook, clean, and help out in any way that they could in their house hold or neighborhood. Most women are supposed to care more about their family and kids before even thinking about themselves.
