William Hogarth, an English artist who is famous for his paintings and engravings that make fun of the English society. In 1733, he painted the comic strip A Rake’s Progress after the painting A Harlot’s progress (1730), which is another modern moral subject comic strip. A Rake’s Progress tells the story of the main character Tom Rakewell, who looses his moral after the collection of his father’s wealth.
