By adopting a tone that is inspired and employing ethos to validate Martin’s methods, Cesar Chavez,an American civil rights activist, comes off as more genuine and trustworthy to his audience which helps him get the reader to be more involved with his analysis of King’s work over the years.Throughout the speech, Cesar Chavez adopts a tone of devotion and inspiration which encourages the reader to acknowledge Martin Luther King Jr’s exploits.One sentence that led me to believe this was,”Dr King’s death gives us the best possible opportunity to recall the principles with which our struggle 1) I feel like Cesar is inspired by Martin’s principle to make an article acknowledging them. We would lose regard for human beings. Then the struggle becomes a mechanical thing. When you lose your sense of life and justice, you lose your strength.” (Par. 10)The author is speaking from a moral standpoint showing the readers that he has a good heart and that he has the credentials to be saying what he is saying.I also think Cesar uses pathos to appeal to emotion when he says,”If, for every violent act committed against us, we respond with nonviolence, we attract people’s support. We can gather the support of millions who have a conscience and would rather see a nonviolent resolution to problems.”(Par. 5 )He’s using pathos here because he’s saying people who have a conscience would rather see a nonviolent resolution to problems and he’s suggesting that people who don’t support that solution don’t have a conscience.Cesar is explaining why Martin Luther King Jr’s methods were effective and he uses ethos to take the high road and show that Martin did the right thing morally. This makes the author seem like a reasonable person and seem like he has a conscience. If he’s seen as more of a good person then it will be easier for the reader to trust and believe what he says.Overall, Cesar shows that nonviolence is morally the right path and also an effective way to
