Verses 1 and 2 explains Paul’s question which is “What then are we to say?” This question is immediately followed by another question that sort of gives us a concise answer to it, “ By no means! How can we who died to sin go in living in it?” Verses 3-11 explains his reasoning and gives us an explanation of his answer in the previous two verses. He says, “ For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in the resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.” To summarize those verses, it basically explains that before Christ was crucified our bodies were filled with sin and temptation, but through his sacrifice our bodies became pure again without any sins. The last and third part of Romans is found in verses in 12-14. These verses explain how to apply and practice what Paul explained in the pervious verses. He states, “ Therefore, do not let sin exercise dominion in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions. No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.” The message he is trying to explain is that try to live your life without temptations and fall vicvim to sin. Our bodies and souls are again
