"One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood." In other words, a true friend can understand when something is wrong with or if something has happened to you. This can be found in A Separate Piece, by John Knowles, when Gene apologizes to Finny the second time he had broken his leg. Phineas forgave Gene and said that he understood. The quote can also relate to my life.
This happened to me when I was extremely ill. So much, in fact that it was almost unbearable and all I could do was sit there, miserably, hoping that the day would come to an end so I could rest, but then my friend "Jane" knew about my sickness and asked if I was ok. She offered to do anything to help me when no one else would.
