Society often fails to address oppression and privilege within its occupations to the point that thousands of human beings feel as if they have no voice in determining their future. These same individuals also face endless days of microaggressions, any comments, attitudes, actions, or gestures individuals experience as inappropriate or hurtful based on their personal history and characteristics. As a prospective social worker at Mary Baldwin University, I intend to advocate for individuals that society denies as multidimensional human beings and only sees individuals’ distinctive physical features and neglects to see their personal identities. The Army Medical Department, AMEDD, will provide me the ability to become representative of the lost voices of both civilians and military officials in the United States Army.
In regards to my academic qualification, I managed to maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.845, an ROTC GPA of a 4.0, and an ACT score of a 27. All my courses at Mary Baldwin

The studio exposed me further in learning how to communicate with individuals from diverse populations, an important component for social works who intend to practice cultural competence within their career. Additionally, this internship demanded that leaders become developed at the end of it because each intern needed to have mastered the value of responsibility, accountability, adaptability, and extensive knowledge. Interns were expected to efficiently perform under stress situations from having multiple clients within one set at the same to have limited resources to think quickly on his or her feet if an activity fails.
