• Problem 1: The client is seeking treatment because of an accident at work, which required a mandatory drug screen. The client tested positive for marijuana. He was placed on a leave of absence without pay and cannot return to work until he has completed a drug treatment program. He is very resistant to treatment and believes that smoking pot should be legal.
Long-term goal: The long term goal would be to enroll in a drug treatment program, to learn how to manage his pain without the use of substances. The client would also need to address his irrational beliefs and denial of his behavior and reflect on if he values his employment and if marijuana is worth losing it. If patient believes that he will be going back to work, then he should meet with his employer after he completes in patient or our patient drug treatment to inquire about when he can come back to work. …show more content…
