When I started looking into law schools last winter, I immediately fell in love with American University Washington College of Law’s program. I had visited American University during my time in D.C. a few years back, but I did not apply due to pending athletic offers from other schools. Even then, I was in awe over AU’s campus and location within the D.C. area. For four years, the idea of attending AU has lived on in the back of my mind. About ten months ago, when I realized that there is a possibility of my dream coming true, I experienced an increase in motivation that resulted in a considerable amount of academic success. I want nothing more than to be able to attend American University Washington College of Law. For starters, I am strongly considering the international law field, and AU is world renowned for their international law program. My interest in the field came from all my travels throughout my life. With my mother working for Delta Airlines, I have been fortunate enough to travel quite frequently, visiting many of the historical countries like Spain, France, and Italy, but also seeing the lesser-developed ones, like Costa Rica, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic. My visits through the lesser-developed countries are what really made me passionate about the human rights area of international law. AUWCL’s externship opportunities are another reason I have such high interest in attending the university. Most law schools cannot praise their successful externship opportunities quite as much as American University can, due to its proximity to the White House and other government agencies. This platform would allow me to create a strong network of connections, which is vital for obtaining a job
