“At least 2.8 million adults die each year as a result of being overweight or obese” (EASO). However, obesity doesn't happen overnight. Instead, it gradually develops overtime as a consequence of the Standard American Diet. “We use the phrase ‘standard American diet’ to describe the stereotypical diet of Americans. But what does the standard American diet actually look like? There’s a good reason we abbreviate standard American diet to S.A.D. The standard American diet leads to standard American diseases that lead to standard American deaths” (Forks over knives). This happens as a result of poor diet and lifestyle choices. A few examples are: dinning in a restaurant where temptations can occur, over eating because of larger potion sizes being served in restaurants, consuming fast food and processed foods that are high in fat and sugar, drinking too many soft drinks and juices, and finally comfort eating. In addition, it is not only adults who are obese because of poor food choices. Children now suffer from it as well.
