Abdul kassim founded the kibera girls soccer academy. Abdul grew up without his father so many females influenced his life. His childhood sparked his motivation. “Like many other children in kibera i had an absent father so my mother raised me by herself.” (a discussion with abdul kassim) after his mother passed, which had an affect on Abdul. He then went to live with his grandmother. “They couldn't afford the fees”(a discussion with abdul kassim) one of the reasons why the soccer team declined. Abdul was curious why the girls weren't coming to the program even though they couldn't afford the fees. “I wanted to know why the girls were not coming to the program anymore” (a discussion with abdul kassim) he found out why they couldn't afford it and how some of the girls got married. Abdul had notice that one by one girls weren't coming to his soccer program. “I realized the girls had stopped coming to the program” (a discussion with abdul kassim) he saw that the girls reached high school so they stopped coming. Even then with a decline, there were still some girls who could come to the program. “Some girls would come to soccer and i would notice that they were changing” (a discussion with abdul kassim) with them changing, this motivated him even more. So he decided to make the fees free for the girls so that they could go to highschool for free and still get to play
