During this act, the big court hearing about all these people accused of witchcraft takes place. When it comes Abigail’s turn to take the stand, she pretty much gives up on Proctor, but doesn’t she love him and want him? All she wants now is the power and that’s all she seems to care about. When Proctor admits to adultery with Abigail, she denies it. When she denies that, it should serve as the beginning of her trail of starting to dwindle down and in the end of Act 4, she just disappears with Reverend Parris’ money and leaves the town. Now why would she just out of the blue run away as all this madness is going on? Is it because she knew she was probably going to get caught in all her lies? When Reverend Parris found that she had ran away, he came to tell the judges and they offered help but it didn’t really seem like it was going to follow through because at that point, they probably realized what they should’ve realized a long time ago, that she was insane and she knew she was going to get caught in her lies because everyone started to confess. For the cherry on top of this whole thing, her man candy ends up getting sent to the gallows to be hanged.
Abigail Williams was definitely a big part in why many events took place in The Crucible. She was pretty much the mastermind behind Proctor being killed and Elizabeth being put in jail. Interesting enough that the two people most affected by
