I. My Question
For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with the process of reproduction. It has been my desire to study medicine and in particular obstetrics and gynecology. Perhaps it was the awareness and anticipation of my younger brother and first cousin’s birth just 6 weeks apart that sparked my interest. Most of my family considers it a calling because I was only two and a half when I expressed my desire to be an OB/GYN, and it has not wavered. To be in this field, I must understand what motivates young women to make such an important decision. I typed in one of my keywords “abortion” in Destiny Quest. I ended up finding 3 books, one of which did not work.
The first book I started with was Abortion, Edited by Norah Piehl. This book talked a lot about women and explained their stories and how their abortion affected them. This book gave background on how women came to their decisions and how they felt about it. While reading this book I felt that it was a very good source but in some ways could be very graphic.
The next book I read was Abortion Edited by David Haugen, Susan Musser, and Kacy Lovelace. This book also talked about women and their abortion stories, but it talked more about how abortion affected them mentally and physically. This book also talked about how abortion using drug substances. I felt this book went more into politics therefore i was not able to get that much information out of it. In most of the books, I found that they mostly talked about politics and that made my research really hard because it was not what I was looking
