Every kid has been asked at some point in their life what they want to be when they grow up and the answer was whatever they were into at that point in time; however once you get older and really start thinking about that question you realize that most times it’s about more than just what you’re into, it’s about convenience, passion and most of all financial stability. Adam Foss speaker at TED2016 (An online media organization that posts talks for free distribution, under the slogan “ideas worth spreading”), is one such person. They’ve helped a woman, who was arrested for shoplifting to feed her kids get a job, an abused teenager who punched another teenager was placed in a secured mental health treatment and given community supervision instead of being tried as an adult and giving jail time, even a young lady who was on the street prostituting just to survive; they helped to find a place to live and grow. Adam Foss said that “he helped a young man who was afraid of the older gang kids showing up after school and that one morning instead of a lunchbox into his backpack, he put a loaded 9-millimeter” (12:06). Instead of spending their time prepping cases after cases they would use that time to find real solutions to the problems as they present themselves. Even though I have no idea what Adam Foss could be going through on a daily bases I do have some knowledge what one prosecutor decision can do to someone’s life, my mother went through a situation in which there was more to the story but because of how the case was handled she is living a life of having that one mistake become a shackle that doesn’t necessarily stops her progress, but it does bring obstacles. Adam Foss story goes to show that with the knowledge and understanding of each situation, how one can make a difference by showing compassion and to not just do something because you can, but do it because it’s
