When Jay told the detectives that Adnan had murdered Hae, he said in two different interviews that each statement was made to the best of his abilities and were the honest truth. This must be a lie as Jay simply did not mix up small details about the day, he entirely changed his story so that the place where he saw the body was completely different. This is not the sign of a trustworthy individual, and in such a case where the sole source of evidence is one individual, it is discomforting to see the amount of change in his story. The prosecution seemed to work around these inconsistencies and listen to only what they wanted to hear. According to Detective Ritz, “they believed Jay’s story because ‘we were able to investigate and corroborate what he was saying,’” (Episode 4). In this case, the prosecution ignored the fact that Jay mislead them at many points of the case, and instead focused on what they wanted to hear, being that Adnan had killed Hae. However, since Jay is the entirety of the prosecution's argument, this means that their evidence came from an untrustworthy source, and therefore what he says cannot be
