Adriana Huus, although she is my best friend, is a negative influence in my life. I met Adri in my freshman year of high school, in our fourth-period Japanese class. We bonded immediately through our mutual love of Pink Floyd, yet as the months went on, I discovered the downside of befriending her. Adri is a distraction from my education, we have conflicting personalities, and she is far more commendable than I am. Her negative influence has caused an onset of problems in my life, such as my grades lowering, my comfort vanishing, and my confidence becoming dilapidated. Ever since I acquainted myself with Adriana Huus, I have seen my grades drop lower than my seventh-grade year, where I was frequently absent from school due to constant migraines. Adri and I live in different time zones; she lives in Kentucky while I live in Alaska. Due to our three hour time difference, it is difficult to manage our schedules so that we can keep in touch. Thus, Adri has decided to make herself the linchpin of our friendship. Adri constantly calls me on Skype to talk about how her day has been going or how much she hates living in Kentucky. I am stuck in an imaginary competition with Adri that I single-handedly made up. Adri surpasses me in terms of intelligence, causing my inferiority complex with her. In spite of the fact that she outshines me in our academic career, Adri continues to act oblivious to me when I need her help on homework or studying. On top of that, Adri’s beautiful appearance overshadows me, causing my lack of confidence.
