This is on the line of what he cover a few weeks ago according the teacher. He was able to that problem in his head, but as the problems became harder his used his whiteboard to complete the rest. On the problems that asked him to double or triple the quantities he struggle due to not understanding the vocabulary. I also found that Alex needed the question repeated several times and he would restate it for clarity before attempting to solve. My additional strategies would be for the teacher to provide Alex a mutilation table, and also teaching him to use equations to help solve proportional reasoning. For example the problem could state; if there are 25 students in Mr. Hill’s class and he splits them into 5 groups, and each group has 3 girls, how many boys are there in each group? By using what information he knows from the problem he could use the equation 5x3+t=25. Overall I feel Alex will do well in 6th grade with proportional reasoning with a little modifying to help with the English language learning and understanding, and the multiplication facts, as well as using equations to help solve proportional
