Did you know that there is more than one type of tradition? The new traditions that have been discovered over the last couple of years are not all in the same category. Some might be just as simple as movie nights and going camping with your loved ones, and other traditions may have something to do with your culture or religion. It is important to retell and remember American myths and legends, since they allow traditions and beliefs to remain alive. Traditions develop the idea that traditions unite people and provide a rhythm to their lives.

Traditions are an integral part of any culture, providing a sense of identity, continuity, and community. Valuing your traditions is essential to preserving the shared values and practices that are unique to each cultural group. Some examples of cultural traditions include putting faces on birthday cakes, baking money into food on New Year’s, and shaking every guest hand at a party.

So many families know of their heritage, just because of their old or even new family traditions. The Italian holiday “Befana” is a holiday like Christmas. But instead of Santa Claus delivering presents on Christmas, it's an old witch delivering presents to kids 10 days after Christmas. Another great example is the African culture, where the broom goes back to slavery. Since they were not able to marry, jumping the broom symbolized their union. Today, African American culture is still jumping the broom after vows are read.

Covid 19 has changed our world for the good and the bad. We now use many ways to keep connected. Families use technology to communicate face-to-face. Multiple members can connect at one time, sharing their days with one another. We can stream important events such as weddings, funerals, births, graduations, etc, another way to keep families involved and
