African American Museum Experience

The museum that I decided to visit was the California African American museum, located in the Exposition park by the coliseum and USC school. I knew that by visiting this museum, I would learn more about African American culture and lifestyle, which I thought it would be interesting to learn about other cultures. What, I expected to see there was African American’s art creation, music, maybe see a few things about their old lifestyle, and the difficulty they once had to face. To be honest, I don't really know much about African Americans history nor culture, besides the way they were treat it due to racism. There are 4 aircrafts as display—A-12 black bird, F-20 Tigershark, Northrop T-38 Talon, Velie Monocoupe, and of course space shuttle “endeavor” OV-105. Besides, aircrafts they also had capsule that were used by spacecraft’s: Apollo- Soyuz, Gemini 11, Mercury- Redstone, Apollo spacesuit. “Apollo- Soyuz” was the capsule that docked with Russia’s Soyuz space. The Mercury- Redstone capsule was part of mercury program, were they send a chimpanzee named Ham to test out that ability of the rocket in space (How sad!). To be honest I really hate the fact the most of the time people use animals was an experiment, it’s sad because their no unable to speak and stand up for their rights. The Apollo spacesuit that was on display belong to pilot Thomas Mattingly on the Apollo 16 mission to the moon in April 1972. Some display was actually once used, while others were example of how they look: Cassini-Huygens, Explorer 1, Orion sounding rocket, Chandra, Hubble Space Telescope, Uhuru, Pioneer Venus, Viking lander and last but not least Sputnik 1. In the extreme zone there is the desert and poles environment. The desert exhibits your able to see tortoises, scorpion, red ants, chuckwallas, and of course cactus. The rocky shore was the amazing it’s a mini aquarium filled marine animals—starfishes, sea urchins and much more, and people are able to touch them. I only think that I dislike was that their tank was not well kept. I enjoyed walking into the pole (ice) room were people are also able to feel the coldness that polar bear live in. I love that they have a big ice wall were your able to leave your hand print. The best zone was the forest zone, I love the fact they have a big beautiful aquarium tank were people are able to sit and watch the fishes, the best part is that the room is dark. Sometimes if you’re lucky enough your able to see a diver feeding the animals. I love watching the jellyfishes, since of course you’re not able to a jellyfish at the
