I love the definition of art. Art is whatever you want it to be or even what you make something out to be. What that says to me is there is a purpose for art and the purpose of the art is to stir the creativity within one’s mind and heart. When looking at art, we must consider many things. Some of the things to take into consideration is that the art was created by a person, and that person had a vision. Even though the artist had a vision with hopes of others seeing it; that may not necessarily happen all the time.
When the art is initially made, it also is pertinent to the culture and customs of people. Whether the form of art is a painting or a statue, we should be able to learn a lot about the people in the culture and the customs

I may have liked the color, the size, or even the particular position of how the was matched perfectly to the décor of a room. In reading these sections, I have learned a lot more about art. There is more to art than the color, size and decor ensemble. I realize the reason why some pieces really struck my heart, it could be due to why it was created and me being in tune with the culture.
The art that I have absolutely always loved is African Art. It’s very unique and has such rich details. I loved it and never really had a reason to understand why . The statues, portrait , and the masks were more than striking to my sight. I wanted it. I had to have it. I wanted to convert my entire home, and dress to reflect these beautiful and unique pieces of art. After reading, I see that there is so much more to this art that intrigues my spirit.
The large statues that are made of bronze are fascinating. I would wonder, “Who thought to create something that big”? I didn’t necessarily want to know why , because I just figured someone created it to honor the person. I never really thought about the material used or the cost it took to do something like that. Now I understand that bronze is expensive and because it is strong material, the artist could construct those high statues. I remember being a child and being afraid of those large statues downtown, Detroit. When I see them today, I can marvel at them with a different
