On February 29, 1956 Aileen Carol Pittman was born in Rochester, Michigan to Leo and Diane Pittman (SOURCE #2/1). Her father, who she never met, was a violent alcoholic that was incarcerated for child molestation and ended his life in 1969 by hanging himself in his jail cell (SOURCE #1). After the death of her father, Diane Wuornos struggled to raise Aileen and her older brother Keith. Unfortunately, she abandoned the children and never returned, leaving them to be adopted by their maternal grandparents Lowery and Britta Wuornos (SOURCE #1).
