Alexander Rodchenko was a co-founder of the Constructivist movement alongside Vladimir Tatlin. He is one of the most versatile Constructivist s to emerge after the Russian Revolution. He is best known for his pioneering use of photomontage, in which he employed a combination of found and original photographs, often tightly cropped imagery and bold empowering type to create strong instantly recognisable compositions. Rodchenko’s cover for About This (1923) is believed to be the first book design to use photomontage.
