Because man's place is the armory.
2. Because no really manly man wants to settle any question otherwise than by fighting about it.
3. Because if men should adopt peaceable methods women will no longer look up to them.
4. Because men will lose their charm if they step out of their natural sphere and interest themselves in other matters than feats of arms, uniforms and drums.
5. Because men are too emotional to vote. Their conduct at baseball games and political conventions shows this, while their innate tendency to appeal to force renders them peculiarly unfit for the task of government.
In the poem above, Miller gives reasons why men shouldn’t be allowed to vote, and the point she is making is that why is the reason women are not allowed to vote, the things that they are expected to do in society. Why does the stereotype of a woman hold her back from voting when the stereotype of a man does not hold him back from voting and holding office? I think that the reaction of people during Miller’s time would have been mixed, I think that the people for women suffrage would rally behind it while people against women’s suffrage would be forced to change their reasons for withholding the right to vote. My personal reaction was “Yeah, you go girl!!!” as I think many women’s reactions’ at this time would be, and that’s why I picked
