Professor Robison
In the book 1984 a novel by George Orwell is about a man name Winston Smith a low ranking member of the ruling Party in London. There are three different party the inner, outer and the paroles of the characteristics and ways of life is very possible. Although it was not based on a true story the way of life in the book has many of the characteristics of life today, as in our limits to do things, our social secure number, even your everyday items . Between your cellphones and social secure number the government knows a lot about you. I have researched many different ways how the book and life today relates to each other and even read interviews.
Throughout me researching I felt that 1984 and slavery had a very deep relationship with how the people were treated. During the period of slavery slave owner’s wanted to keep the black people all on the same level (stupid), although some reached out and gain some type of education the goal were to keep them stupid. In the book 1984 Big Brother separated everyone and put them in different parties’, name the inner party, outer party and the parole .During slavery if you tried to get and education u were either beating, arrested, and even tortured. Winston a character from 1984 made that mistake of using his mind and he was forced to sit still on a narrow bench and if he moved a little voice on a telescreen will yelled at him in his ear. When he put his hands into his pocket to look for some food in his pocket, the voice shouted out from the telescreen as if someone was screaming in his ear.
Many people of today doesn’t realize the new technological of today spy’s on us. I was reading an article about smart phone and yeah there a little too smart. In this article I found that the service your smartphone/iPhone is connected to stores incoming and outgoing calls, the numbers that you receive calls from, the duration of the call, incoming and outgoing text messages, the phone numbers you send texts to and receive texts from, how often you check your e-mail or access the Internet, and even your location I don’t know about you but that’s pretty creepy to me. You may ask yourself how that refer to the book 1984, in the book 1984 they had an organization call Junior Spies that were children who monitor adults and told if they disobeyed a rule.
Television is another big factor that can be related to 1984.There is many commercial that air on television im pretty sure you have seen the Geico car insurance commercial
