Most of us have heard of Alzheimer’s and may even know someone who has developed the disease. In order to spread awareness, and help to combat this growing threat, the Alzheimer’s association has started several fundraising activities. One of which, The Walk to End Alzheimer’s, has TAC as a proud participant. This year the walk will take place on October 1. Even if you don’t know someone who has the illness, many Americans struggle every day to cope with this disease. A few facts:
1. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s
2. Approximately 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia
3. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States; more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined
