Definition
According to (farlex,2003) Holistic care is a system of complete or total patient care that considers the physical, emotional, social, economic, and spiritual needs of the person; his or her response to illness; and the effect of the illness on the ability to meet self-care needs. (Farlex, 2003). Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia, Alzheimer’s is caused by a buildup of proteins in the brain to form structures called ‘plague’ and ‘tangles’ this leads to the loss of the connections between each nerve cells, eventually this will lead to dead nerve cells and the loss of brain tissue. If an Alzheimer’s patient is at the moderate to the severe stage they could have trouble using the toilet.
Using a raised toilet seat and grab rails can help make the toilet more manageable and suitable for the patient.
