While conducting the interviews for the Cold War, it became quite obvious to me that not many people knew what all happened during the Cold War, and what all it was about. Even when I was in school, that wasn’t something that the history teacher focused on, it was more about the Vietnam War. The first question I asked was “What words or phrases come to mind when you think of the Cold War?” All of the responses were that it was a political war, which is true to an extent, but it was so much more than that. Other phrases that came up were a nuclear war, weapons war and race to the moon. The Cold War started in 1947 and lasted until 1991 between the United States and the former Soviet Union. During those times many significant things happened all over the world. When asked if they had learned about the Cold War in school, most of the responses were that it was talked about briefly, but it wasn’t gone over in full description like some of the other wars during that time. This I believe is due to the fact that the school district has strict guidelines that they have to follow in order to get the students ready for the state wide tests that we have in Texas. During the Cold War, several different important events occurred: Berlin Blockade (1948–1949), the Korean War (1950–1953), the Suez Crisis (1956), the Berlin Crisis of 1961, the Cuban Missile
